Consult Fees in Australia

House Call (or other place)
There are charges for both consulting and travel
The consult fee is $220.00 for up to 60 minutes, and in proportion if it is longer than that
Travel charges are for time, distance and any tolls
Travel is charged from the relevant base out to the location and back
Bases are Camberwell (Melbourne), Camperdown (Sydney), and Norwood (Adelaide)
Travel time is charged at $110.00 per hour or in proportion
Mileage is 88 cents per km
Tolls at cost are charged when applicable as the most economical route

Parking at cost is charged when applicable
The minimum charge for travel is $55.00

Veterinary Centre
The charge is $220.00 for up to 60 minutes, and in proportion if it is longer than that

Telephone
The consult fee is $220.00 for up to 60 minutes, and in proportion if it is longer than that
Any STD telephone charges are a cost to you
Most people prefer to make the call to us so that it is charged to their telephone account
We can usually arrange the consult for a cheaper calling time
The call can usually be made to a fixed line rather than a mobile
Settlement before or at the time is required
Payment is most conveniently done by MasterCard or Visa
You may also post a cheque or money order ahead, or pay by special arrangement through your veterinarian

Please Note: Not by E-Mail
It is impractical to consult effectively or to give informed advice by e-mail
Effective interpretation and explanation of intervention options require an intensive question and answer session
This is best done verbally
However, you are most welcome to email, fax or post background information before a consultation

Follow-Up

If needed, this can usually be done by telephone
Follow-up by telephone is $55.00 for up to 15 minutes, and in proportion if it is longer than that
Follow-up house calls or veterinary centre consults are charged on the same basis as the first consult

Written Summary
A written summary will normally be sent to you and your referring and/or usual veterinarian
This will not be done if you request otherwise
The written summary is part of the service covered by the consult fee

Payment
Settlement at the time or before is required
Cash, personal cheque, money order, MasterCard and Visa card payments are acceptable
For telephone consults, this is most conveniently done by MasterCard or Visa at the end of the consult
You may post a cheque or money order ahead, or pay by special arrangement through your veterinarian

Investigation
The fee for investigating an issue is $220.00 for up to 60 minutes and in proportion if it is longer

Report
The fee for writing reports is $220.00 for up to 60 minutes and in proportion if it is longer
A written quotation will be given at the time of commissioning, if requested

Travel
The fee for time spent travelling from Camberwell to the location/s and return is $110.00 per hour or pro rata
Any personal car mileage from Camberwell to the locations and return is 88 cents per km
Any parking, tolls, air fares, airport taxes, taxi fares, rental car expenses and travel insurance are charged at cost

Accommodation and Meals
Any meals and accommodation are charged at cost

Terms
Settlement is required within 14 days of the investigation having been completed


Report Fees in Australia:

Consultation

The fee for writing an expert  opinion report is $220.00 for up to 60 minutes and in proportion if it is longer

Settlement is required from the requesting solicitor within 14 days of the report having been delivered

Investigation
The fee for writing an investigation report is $220.00 for up to 60 minutes and in proportion if it is longer
A written quotation will be provided at the time of commissioning, if requested
Settlement is required within 14 days of the report having been delivered


Expert Witness Fees in Australia

Report
The fee for writing an expert opinion report is $220.00 for up to 60 minutes and in proportion if it is longer
 A written quotation will be provided at the time of commissioning, if requested

Cancellation
A fee applies if a request is cancelled for Dr Robert Holmes to be available to attend court on a specified day or days
The fee is $220.00 per day or part of a day

Preparation
The fee is $220.00 for up to 60 minutes and in proportion if it is longer

Waiting at Court
The fee is $220.00 for up to 60 minutes and in proportion if it is longer

Giving Evidence
The fee is $220.00 for up to 60 minutes and in proportion if it is longer

Travel
Time spent travelling from Camberwell to court, offices or chambers and return is charged at $102.00 per hour or pro rata
Any personal car mileage from Camberwell to court, offices or chambers and return is 88 cents per km
Any parking, tolls, air fares, airport taxes, taxi fares, rental car expenses and travel insurance are charged at cost

Accommodation and Meals
Any meals and accommodation are at cost

Terms
Settlement is required from the requesting solicitor within 14 days of the completion of each item of service
